Why upgrade your electrical service
Homes built before the 1990s often have a 60 A or 100 A service. Add a heat pump, an EV charger, a hot tub, a water heater and a modern kitchen, and demand quickly exceeds what the panel can deliver. The symptoms are familiar: tripping breakers, lights dimming when an appliance starts, a panel warm to the touch. In some cases the insurer requires a code upgrade before renewing the policy — notably for fuse panels, aluminum wiring or recalled panel brands.
A 200 A upgrade includes replacing the mast and service cable, the meter base, the panel and the grounding, then coordinating the reconnection with Hydro-Québec. Nuvem files the work declaration with the Régie du bâtiment, submits the connection request and schedules the outage to minimize disruption — usually a single day.
Panel replacement and compliance certificate
If the service is adequate but the panel is outdated, we replace the panel, reorganize the circuits, label every breaker and add today's required protection (GFCI, arc-fault). At the end of the work we issue a compliance certificate recognized by insurers and buyers.

How much does a 200 A upgrade cost in Quebec?

My insurer requires a code upgrade — what now?
Send us the insurer's letter. Usual requirements target fuse panels, aluminum wiring and some recalled panels. We fix the items listed and issue the certificate.
How long will I be without power?
Usually a few hours for the replacement and Hydro-Québec reconnection. The date is scheduled in advance.
Do I need a permit to change a panel?
The work must be declared to the Régie du bâtiment du Québec by a licensed electrical contractor. Nuvem handles it; some municipalities also require a permit if the mast is moved.
